"Sutyagin's House" (Wooden skyscraper, Solombala skyscraper) is a wooden 13-storey house built in Solombala (north of Arkhangelsk) by businessman Nikolai Sutyagin.
It was one of the tallest private wooden buildings in Russia, yielding in height to some tiered wooden churches.
Construction began in 1992 with a three-story building. In the late 1990s, Sutyagin was serving a sentence in places of deprivation of liberty, and construction was suspended, but resumed after his release. The Sutyagin House was recognized as the sensation of the year at the conference "Wooden Construction in Northern Cities", held in the Norwegian city of Trondheim, it was planned to be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest wooden building in the world. The house was partially dismantled in December 2008 by a court decision (up to four floors) as an unauthorized building. On May 5, 2012, the remaining part of the wooden skyscraper was destroyed by fire.
